In 1858 a wagon train of about 23 covered wagons left Mississippi bound for Texas. They crossed the Sabine River near Nacogdoches and each went separate ways.
Elias G. W. Oden and his wife Chloe, with Elias Jasper Oden and his wife Catherine established the settlement of Oden. After many name changes
the town settled for the name Flo, after the postmasters dog.
